Relationship is Over

My husband and I have been married for almost 13 years. The past two years have been very difficult as I have been experiencing my awakening and he has not. About four weeks ago (and another time previously) I have asked him for a divorce. We are set to begin counseling but I know deep in my heart that this relationship is over. I do not feel ill will towards him and am coming to terms with past hurts. However, how do I explain to him how I am feeling and that our ending will result in new beginnings for both of us?
